Duxbury MA Driver Loses Appeal in 2019 Fatal Hit-and-Run Case, Prison Sentence Upheld
Duxbury MA-A Massachusetts Appeals Court has upheld the conviction and prison sentence of a Duxbury woman responsible for a 2019 hit-and-run crash that killed a local jogger, bringing another chapter in the long-running case to a close.
Kristina Blackmore was convicted by a Plymouth County jury in connection with the June 9, 2019, crash that claimed the life of 46-year-old Andrea Gordon. Gordon was jogging along Washington Street in Duxbury when she was struck by a pickup truck. Prosecutors said Blackmore failed to stop after the collision, leaving the scene while Gordon lay seriously injured.

Emergency crews responded and transported Gordon to a hospital, where she died two days later from the injuries she suffered in the crash.
Following a trial, Blackmore was found guilty of leaving the scene of a crash causing death and motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation. She was sentenced to six to eight years in state prison, followed by three years of probation after her release.
Blackmore later appealed both her conviction and sentence, arguing that errors during the trial warranted a new outcome. However, the Massachusetts Appeals Court rejected those arguments and ruled that the conviction and sentence should stand.
The decision means Blackmore will continue serving the original six- to eight-year prison sentence imposed by the trial court.
The case drew widespread attention across Plymouth County and Massachusetts because of the tragic circumstances surrounding Gordon’s death and the allegations that the driver left the scene instead of immediately stopping to help.
The Appeals Court’s ruling effectively ends one of the final major legal challenges to the conviction, leaving the original verdict and sentence in place.
