⚠️ Plymouth Beach Access Alert: Crossover Closed Due to Plover Nesting
Plymouth MA-Attention, beachgoers and anglers: Access to the Crossover at Plymouth Beach is officially closed to all vehicles effective immediately.
This measure is being taken to protect active piping plover nesting sites, which require a mandatory 100-yard, vehicle-free buffer zone to comply with environmental regulations and prevent disruption to these threatened chicks.
What you need to know:
- Status: The Crossover remains closed to vehicles until further notice.
- Timeline: Once chicks hatch, it typically takes up to 35 days for them to fledge. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as the town deems the area safe for vehicle traffic.
- What Remains Open: The Day Parking Area, Landing Lot, and the Fisherman’s Turnaround remain fully accessible. Designated parking along Ryder Way is also unaffected by this closure.
- Important Reminder: Please note that the existing nightly restrictions for vehicles and e-bikes (including fishing access) after 7:00 p.m. remain firmly in place until at least July 19.
We appreciate your cooperation in protecting our local wildlife. You can check the Long Beach Information page for real-time status updates as they become available.
