Abington MA Man Charged After SUV Crash Shifts House Off Foundation
Abington, Mass. – An Abington man has now been formally charged after police say he crashed an SUV into an occupied home on High Street last month, causing such severe damage that the house was shifted off its foundation.
The crash occurred on the night of June 13 when investigators say the SUV left the roadway and slammed into the residence. The family inside the home was not injured, but the damage forced them to leave while the structure was evaluated.

Following the investigation, Abington Police charged 54-year-old Derek Walsh with operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violations, speeding, and failing to wear a seat belt.
Walsh suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and is scheduled to be arraigned in Brockton District Court.
The investigation has concluded with the filing of criminal charges.
