Emotions ran high Friday in Plymouth Superior Court as the murder trial of Duxbury mother Lindsay Clancy took another dramatic turn.

Defense attorney Kevin Reddington interrupted proceedings after alleging that someone in the courtroom was caught on a hot microphone saying “shut her up” while Clancy cried during testimony and the presentation of autopsy photos of her youngest child. Prosecutors disputed the claim, with officials later suggesting the remark may have been “shut it off” instead.

Judge William Sullivan addressed the courtroom, warning that inappropriate comments or disruptions would not be tolerated and stating that anyone responsible would be removed from the courtroom immediately.

The emotional moment came as jurors continued hearing testimony in the high-profile case. Witnesses described Clancy as a devoted mother before the January 2023 deaths of her three children, while psychiatrists also testified about her treatment for anxiety and other mental health concerns before the tragedy.

Clancy, 35, is charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan. She has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, with her defense arguing she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis at the time of the killings. Prosecutors contend she acted deliberately and was criminally responsible for her actions.

The trial is expected to continue next week as prosecutors near the end of presenting their case before the defense begins calling its own witnesses. The proceedings remain one of the most closely watched criminal trials in Massachusetts.
