Two Arrested After Police Recover Stolen Firearm During Traffic Stop Plympton
Plympton, Mass. — Two Arrested After Police Recover Stolen Firearm During Traffic Stop
Plympton Police arrested two people early Wednesday morning after a traffic stop led investigators to a stolen handgun that had reportedly been taken in Halifax shortly before the arrests.
According to police, officers were conducting a motor vehicle stop at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Center Street when they encountered a gray Nissan Altima displaying a canceled Massachusetts registration. The vehicle was stopped in the area of Spring Street.

During an inventory of the vehicle before it was removed from the roadway, officers reportedly discovered several items, including a window punch, ski mask, multiple pairs of gloves, and loose United States currency and coins.
The investigation then led an officer back to a nearby property on Parsonage Road, where the Nissan had reportedly been observed earlier in the evening.
Police said the officer located a Glock 22 .40-caliber handgun concealed beneath a vehicle. Investigators said the firearm was found in substantially the same area where officers had previously observed one of the occupants making movements between vehicles.
Neither occupant was able to produce a Massachusetts License to Carry Firearms, and subsequent inquiries reportedly confirmed that neither person possessed a valid firearms license.
Both occupants were arrested and identified by police as Shayne Mason and Ciara Moore.
Personnel from the Plymouth County Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to document and process the firearm and the surrounding scene.
As the investigation continued, police developed information indicating that the recovered handgun had been reported stolen in Halifax shortly before the arrests.
According to police, the charges include receiving stolen property valued at more than $1,200, conspiracy, possession of a large-capacity firearm, possession of a large-capacity feeding device, possession of a burglarious instrument, improper storage of a large-capacity firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card, number plate violation to conceal identity, unregistered motor vehicle, uninsured motor vehicle and speeding.
The arrests remain allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
