Hull, Mass. Celebrates America’s 250th Anniversary With Fireworks, Parade and Community Field Day
HULL, MASS. — Hull is preparing for a weekend of celebration as the town marks the nation’s 250th anniversary with a grand finale featuring live music, fireworks, a large patriotic parade and an afternoon field day for residents and visitors.
The festivities begin Friday, August 14, at 5 p.m. at the Hull Redevelopment Authority property. The evening will feature live music, lawn games, food trucks and a beer truck as the community gathers for an evening of entertainment.

The Assisted Living band is scheduled to provide live music throughout the event, leading up to a 30-minute fireworks display beginning at approximately 9 p.m.
Parking will be available at the HRA property. According to the Hull Semiquincentennial Committee, parking in the main area of the HRA land will be free for residents with restricted parking stickers. Other parking areas on the property will charge a fee.
The celebration continues Saturday, August 15, with one of the weekend’s biggest events — a patriotic parade through Hull.
The parade is scheduled to step off from Revere Street at 11 a.m. and travel along Nantasket Avenue toward L Street. The parade will conclude at L Street, where a community field day will take place throughout the afternoon.
Four division grand marshals have been selected to lead the parade: Joseph A. DiVito Sr., Mary Jane Silva, Tim Dunn and Herb Fleck.
Organizers say the parade will feature a wide variety of participants representing Hull’s community and its patriotic traditions. Scheduled participants include the Hull Police and Fire departments, veterans and military organizations, community groups, floats, patriotic-themed golf carts, classic cars, sports teams, marching bands and drum troupes.
The USS Constitution Color Guard is also expected to participate, along with stilt walkers, wing dancers, performers and other surprises.
Following the parade, residents and visitors can head to L Street for an afternoon of food, live entertainment, games and family activities.
The weekend celebration is part of Hull’s commemoration of the Semiquincentennial, the 250th anniversary of the United States. Organizers are inviting the community to come together and celebrate Hull’s history, residents and connection to the nation’s long-running story.
With fireworks Friday night followed by a parade and community field day Saturday, the weekend is expected to provide something for families, longtime Hull residents and visitors alike.
Residents planning to attend are encouraged to plan ahead for parking and traffic changes associated with the parade and festivities.
For additional information about the weekend’s events, residents can visit the Town of Hull website or follow local announcements from town officials and the Hull Semiquincentennial Committee.
Plimoth Today will continue to provide local coverage of events and news throughout Plymouth County.
