Plymouth County Weather Alert: Wind, Cold Rain Expected Across South Shore This Weekend
Plymouth county MA-If you’ve got outdoor plans in Plymouth County this weekend, you may want a backup plan ready.
A messy stretch of weather is expected to move into southeastern Massachusetts late Friday night and stick around through much of Saturday, bringing cold rain, gusty winds, and temperatures that will feel way more like March than the end of May.
Forecasters say Saturday looks like the roughest day of the weekend, especially for coastal towns like Plymouth, Marshfield, Duxbury, and Scituate. Rain is expected throughout the day with strong northeast wind gusts that could reach up to 40 mph near the shoreline. Temperatures may struggle to get out of the low 50s.
The combination of chilly air, wind, and steady rain could make conditions miserable for anyone heading to beaches, ball games, graduation parties, or other outdoor events. Drivers could also run into reduced visibility at times because of fog and heavy rain.
Boaters are being urged to use caution as rough surf and hazardous marine conditions are expected along the South Shore coastline through Saturday.
The good news is the storm system should move out by Sunday, with drier weather, some sunshine, and temperatures climbing back closer to 70 degrees.
Officials are encouraging residents to keep an eye on updated forecasts throughout the weekend as conditions could still change.
