Saturday, July 12
Eyes up to the sky
Join the Wareham Land Trust and meteorologist Dr. Alex Kinsella on Saturday, July 12 for a walk through Great Neck Wildlife Sanctuary to learn about the clouds.
The sanctuary is on Stockton Shortcut Street. The land trust recommends attendees bring water and layers. The walk will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The event is free but space is limited. Register at warehamlandtrust.org.
Ride on down
Steer clear of bad vibes at the Car & Motorcycle Show Saturday, July 12 at the Elks Lodge on 2855 Cranberry Hwy.
There will be trophies and a 50/50 raffle. Food and drinks will also be available in the Elks Lodge.
The show will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and there will be free parking. Car/bike registration is from 9 to 11 a.m. and the entry fee is $20. If it rains, the show will be moved to July 13.
Sunday, July 13
Party under the sun
Put some sunglasses on and get ready for the Onset VFW Post 2846’s Summer Party this July.
The party is on July 13 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Dudley Brown VFW on 4 Gibbs Ball Park Road. Admission initially costs $10 and $15 athe door.
Monday, July 14
Summer cookout
Wareham’s Council on Aging is bringing the heat with their Cookout BBQ on Monday, July 14 at 11:30 a.m. Tickets will be on sale starting at 8 a.m. on June 18 at the Council On Aging office.
Tickets are $10 each and only four can be reserved per person
The Cookout BBQ is at the Wareham-New Bedford Elks Lodge 73 on 2855 Cranberry Highway. Doors open at 11 a.m.
Musical memories
Get ready to sing along at the Wareham Free Library during a concert by award-winning Indigenous singer and songwriter Kim Moberg.
The concert is on Monday, July 14 at 7 p.m. and the library is located on 59 Marion Road.
Participants are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair, bug spray and a picnic snack to enjoy. A donation to Damien’s Food Pantry is a ticket into the show. The concert will be held inside if the weather is not cooperative.
Tuesday, July 15
Time to get mysterious
Keep book lovers close, and enemies closer while discussing “The Lost Constitution” by William Martin during the Mystery Book Club meeting on Tuesday, July 15.
Unless otherwise noted, all mystery book club meetings are held at 6 p.m. at the Wareham Free Library located at 59 Marion Road. Copies of the book will be available at the library’s circulation desk.
The mystery book club meets every third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.
Wednesday, July 16
Ahoy matey!
Avast any prior plans and get ready for the Pirates of New England presentation with history teacher Luca Rebussini. This presentation explains the history of the pirates and pirate hunters of New England during the Golden Age of Piracy.
The event is at the Wareham Free Library on Wednesday, July 16 at 6:30 p.m. The Wareham Free Library is located on 59 Marion Road.
The topics that will be discussed are why people became pirates, how pirate ships were run, weapons and tactics used, politics of the pirates, the government, and of the colonies, as well as how piracy ended.
The program is free and no registration is required. The event is also sponsored by the Friends of the Wareham Free Library.
