Police Seek Suspect After Reported Knife Assault on Rockland Street
HINGHAM, Mass. — Hingham police were searching Monday evening for a man reportedly involved in an assault with a knife on Rockland Street, according to information broadcast over local police dispatch and reported by CrimeRadar.
The incident was reported at approximately 5:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, according to the dispatch information reviewed by Plimoth Today. Police reportedly said they had probable cause to arrest a suspect for assault by means of a dangerous weapon, specifically a knife.
According to the dispatch, the suspect allegedly fled from the area of Rockland Street in Hingham following the reported assault. Police broadcast information about a vehicle believed to be associated with the suspect.

The vehicle was described as a 2014 Nissan Murano, possibly bearing Massachusetts registration 4VEC93, according to the dispatch recording transcribed by CrimeRadar.
Officers were reportedly instructed to stop and contact police if the vehicle or suspect was located.
CrimeRadar identified the information as coming from public dispatch audio and specifically cautioned that its transcript was automatically generated, may contain inaccuracies and is not an official police report. Plimoth Today is therefore treating the information as a developing report rather than a confirmed account of the circumstances surrounding the assault.
The dispatch also contained personal information about the suspect’s reported medical or developmental conditions. Plimoth Today is not repeating those details because they have not been independently confirmed by an official police statement and are not necessary to report the basic public-safety information.
The reported incident occurred in Hingham, a Plymouth County community where police maintain an official police log and regularly issue public safety announcements. The Hingham Police Department’s official website lists its headquarters at 35 Essington Drive and provides a police contact number of 781-749-1212.
As of Monday evening, Plimoth Today had not located an official Hingham Police Department news release publicly confirming an arrest or providing additional details about the reported knife assault.
Residents who encounter a person or vehicle they believe may be connected to the incident should not approach or attempt to confront the individual. Instead, they should contact police and provide the location and any information they can safely observe.
This remains a developing story. Additional information, including the identity of any suspect, the condition of anyone involved and whether an arrest has been made, may be released by authorities as the investigation continues.
