Powerful Wind Storm Causes Widespread Damage
PLYMOUTH COUNTY, Mass. — A powerful wind storm swept through late Monday night into Tuesday, bringing damaging wind gusts, widespread power outages, and significant property damage across the region.
Officials reported wind gusts exceeding 60 mph in some areas, toppling trees and knocking down power lines throughout several South Shore communities, including , , and .
At the height of the storm, tens of thousands of residents were left without power, with some towns seeing a majority of customers impacted. Utility crews were forced to delay restoration efforts overnight due to dangerous wind conditions but began assessing and repairing damage as winds eased Tuesday morning.
