Massachusetts Man Charged After Allegedly Groping Elderly Women; Police Say Spider Excuse Was Used
Newton MA-A 29-year-old Massachusetts man is facing felony charges after allegedly assaulting multiple women, including elderly residents near Lasell Village in Newton.
Sean Patrick Capalbo has pleaded not guilty to two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person with a disability or someone over the age of 60, according to reports.
Investigators say the incidents occurred during October near the Lasell Village community. In one reported encounter, a woman was allegedly approached near a pond when the suspect claimed she had a spider on her back before allegedly touching her inappropriately.
A separate incident reportedly involved another resident near Seminary Avenue. Authorities reportedly used surveillance footage to help identify the suspect.
Reports also indicate investigators were looking into additional alleged incidents involving other women, including a postal worker at an apartment complex in Framingham. In that incident, the same alleged spider-related excuse was reportedly used.
Capalbo was unable to post bail and was taken to the Middlesex Jail and House of Correction in Billerica. His next court hearing is scheduled for November 24.
The charges remain allegations, and Capalbo is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
