Kingston Man Faces Decades in Prison After Superior Court Rape Conviction
PLYMOUTH COUNTY, MA — A 22-year-old Kingston resident faces a substantial prison sentence following his conviction in Plymouth Superior Court on multiple charges related to a sexual assault at a house party in August 2023.

A jury returned a guilty verdict against Jason M. Webb on Thursday after deliberating for eight and a half hours across two days. The three-day trial concluded with Webb being found guilty on two counts of rape and one count of indecent assault and battery. He was acquitted on two additional counts of indecent assault and battery.
Investigation and House Party Incident
According to a public statement released by Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz, the criminal investigation began during the early morning hours of August 26, 2023. Plymouth Police officers were dispatched to South Shore Hospital after staff notified authorities that a female patient had arrived seeking medical care and reporting a sexual assault.
Joint investigators from both the Plymouth Police Department and the Kingston Police Department determined that the assault took place during a house party hosted at Webb’s personal residence in Kingston. Detectives interviewed witnesses who attended the event, collected physical evidence, and worked alongside hospital medical staff to establish the timeline leading up to the assault.
Prosecution Requests Immediate Custody
Following the delivery of the jury’s verdict, the Commonwealth aggressively petitioned the court to alter Webb’s bail status pending his formal sentencing hearing. Prosecutors formally requested that Webb’s pre-trial bail be revoked immediately and that he be remanded into custody. Alternatively, prosecutors argued that if permitted to remain out of jail, Webb should be mandated to submit to continuous GPS location monitoring and barred by strict court orders from having any direct or indirect contact with the victim.
Despite the prosecution’s motion for immediate revocation of bail, presiding Judge Ira L. Gant denied the state’s request and elected to release Webb on personal recognizance pending sentencing.
Upcoming Sentencing and Maximum Penalties
Webb is scheduled to return to Plymouth Superior Court for his formal sentencing hearing on November 17. Under Massachusetts state law, each conviction of rape carries a statutory maximum penalty of up to 20 years in state prison. Additionally, a conviction for indecent assault and battery carries a potential maximum sentence of up to five years.
As a result of the convictions, Webb could face significant consecutive prison terms alongside mandatory registration as a sex offender upon his eventual release.
