Kingston, Mass. Man Arrested After Alleged Burglary at Home of Retired Police Officer

KINGSTON, Mass. — A man was arrested Thursday after Kingston police say he broke into the home of a retired Kingston Police officer following a series of reported vehicle break-ins near the center of town.

According to Kingston Police, officers were dispatched after receiving multiple reports of a suspicious man entering unlocked vehicles in neighborhoods around the town center. Officers quickly began searching the area in an effort to locate the suspect.

During the investigation, police say the situation escalated when the man allegedly entered the home of a retired Kingston Police officer. Responding officers located the suspect a short time later and took him into custody without incident.

Investigators said the suspect was found carrying a Kingston Police Department hat that belonged to the retired officer, providing evidence linking him to the burglary.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned in Plymouth District Court. As of Friday, police had not publicly released the suspect’s identity or announced the full list of charges.

Detectives continue to investigate whether the suspect may be connected to any additional thefts or vehicle break-ins reported in the area. Police are asking residents who live near the town center to review footage from home security cameras or doorbell cameras that may have captured the suspect before his arrest.

Anyone with surveillance video or information that could assist investigators is encouraged to contact the Kingston Police Department.

Authorities also reminded residents to lock their vehicles and avoid leaving valuables inside, noting that unlocked cars are often easy targets for thieves.

The investigation remains active, and additional information is expected to be released as the case moves through Plymouth District Court.
