House Fire Draws Second Alarm, No Injuries Reported
DUXBURY, Mass. — Firefighters responded to a house fire early Thursday morning at a residence on Stagecoach Road, prompting a second alarm and bringing mutual-aid crews from several surrounding communities.
The Duxbury Fire Department received a 911 call at approximately 1:48 a.m. reporting a fire at 90 Stagecoach Road. When firefighters arrived, they found the residence heavily involved in fire.
A working fire assignment was requested as crews began operations. A second alarm was subsequently called, bringing additional firefighters and equipment from Kingston, Pembroke, Plymouth, Hanover, Plympton and Carver.
Firefighters encountered high-heat conditions while operating on the second floor of the residence. Crews worked to bring the fire under control, and officials reported that no firefighters were injured.
The home was unoccupied when the fire broke out, according to the information released by the fire department. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Duxbury Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Fire Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the blaze. Officials have not determined what caused the fire, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Investigators will work to determine where and how the fire started and whether any additional factors contributed to its spread.
Second-alarm fires require additional personnel and resources from neighboring communities, allowing local firefighters to maintain a sufficient response while additional crews assist at the scene.
Residents are reminded that working smoke alarms and fire escape plans can be critical during a house fire, particularly when a fire occurs overnight.
