Bridgewater Defeats Maine, Advances to Little League World Series
Bridgewater, Mass. — Bridgewater Little League is heading to the Little League World Series after delivering a dominant performance Thursday night, defeating Gray-New Gloucester, Maine, 8-0 in the New England Regional championship game in Bristol, Connecticut.
The victory sends the Massachusetts state champions to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where they will represent New England on the biggest stage in youth baseball.
Bridgewater’s pitching was the story of the championship game. Dominik Mombeleur turned in an outstanding performance, striking out 14 batters over five innings while allowing just two hits. His performance helped Bridgewater keep Maine off the scoreboard throughout the game.
The win capped an impressive run through the New England Regional Tournament. Bridgewater opened regional play with a 7-0 victory over Maine before defeating Vermont 11-1 to earn a spot in Thursday night’s championship game.

Bridgewater entered the regional tournament after winning the Massachusetts Little League state championship. The team has continued to build momentum throughout the summer, and Thursday’s shutout secured a historic trip to Williamsport.
For Bridgewater Little League, the accomplishment is especially significant because this marked the program’s first appearance in the New England Regional championship game in its 74-year history.
The team will now prepare for the Little League World Series, which begins next week in Williamsport. Bridgewater’s first game is scheduled for Wednesday, August 19, against the winner of the Metro Region.
The trip to Williamsport represents the culmination of months of work for the players, coaches and families who have supported the team throughout its championship run.
Bridgewater manager Tim Zackrison previously described the experience as an unforgettable opportunity for the players to compete alongside their friends and families.
The team’s journey has already attracted plenty of support from the Bridgewater community, and that support is expected to continue as the players head to Pennsylvania to represent Massachusetts and all of New England.
Bridgewater now has the opportunity to compete against the best Little League teams from across the United States and around the world.
For a community that has followed the team throughout its state and regional championship run, the next chapter will take place on the national stage.
Congratulations to Bridgewater Little League on punching its ticket to Williamsport and the 2026 Little League World Series!
