Plymouth 250th Commemoration Committee Invites Community to Attend Unveiling of Purple Heart Signage
The Town of Plymouth’s 250th Commemoration Committee invites community members to join local officials at the unveiling of the Town’s new Purple Heart signage.
In recognition of Purple Heart Day, which is observed annually on Aug. 7, the Plymouth 250 Commemoration Committee, in collaboration with American Legion Post 40 and V.F.W. Post 1822, will unveil the town’s new Purple Heart signage in front of Memorial Hall.
The event will feature remarks from 250th Commemoration Committee Chair Patrick Browne and Rep. Michelle Badger, along with a reading of Plymouth’s original Purple Heart Community Proclamation. Light refreshments will be available in the Hall of Flags immediately following the conclusion of the ceremony.
This signage honors Plymouth residents who are Purple Heart medal recipients. The Purple Heart medal is the military’s oldest medal, awarded to those who have either been wounded or killed while serving in the military. The town’s original Purple Heart Community Proclamation was signed into order in 2017 by the Plymouth Select Board, recognizing the town as a Purple Heart community.
