SUV Crashes Into Abington Home Saturday Night
ABINGTON MA — A Saturday night crash on High Street left a family displaced after an SUV slammed into the side of a home, causing major structural damage.
Firefighters were called to 200 High Street shortly after 9 p.m. following reports that a vehicle had crashed into a house. When emergency crews arrived, they found a large SUV lodged deep into the left side of the residence.
The people inside the home were able to get out safely and were not hurt. The driver, who was the only person in the SUV, suffered injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening and was taken to South Shore Hospital for treatment.
Town officials inspected the property and determined the damage was severe enough that the home could no longer be occupied. Utility crews and inspectors were called in to secure the building and address electrical concerns following the crash.
Emergency personnel remained at the scene for more than two hours while crews worked to stabilize the area and assess the damage.

Police are continuing to investigate what caused the SUV to leave the roadway and strike the home.
