Plymouth Calls on Residents and Businesses to “Fly the Flag” for Nation’s 250th Anniversary

PLYMOUTH, MA – As the nation approaches its historic 250th anniversary, the Town of Plymouth is calling on its residents and business owners to join in a unified show of patriotism.

The Plymouth 250th Commemoration Committee officially announced on Tuesday that it is encouraging the entire community to display the American flag at their homes, storefronts, and offices. The requested display period begins on Flag Day, Sunday, June 14, 2026, and continues through Independence Day, Saturday, July 4, 2026.

According to the committee, this community-wide initiative is designed to be a visible reflection of Plymouth’s active participation in the nationwide celebration of the United States’ founding. By filling neighborhoods and civic spaces with the Stars and Stripes, the town aims to honor the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

“This is a meaningful way for our community to reflect on Plymouth’s important place in the nation’s early history,” said a representative for the committee.

The Plymouth 250th Commemoration Committee was specifically formed to plan and coordinate local observances connected to the American Revolution’s semiquincentennial. In addition to visual displays like this flag initiative, the committee is working to organize civic ceremonies, educational opportunities, and public programs throughout the lead-up to the milestone anniversary.

Residents and business owners looking for more information regarding upcoming commemorative events or details on how to participate can contact the Town of Plymouth’s office at (508) 747-1620, extension 10213.
