Hull Police Preparing for Large Crowd at Nantasket Beach After Social Media Posts Spread Online

HULL MA— Hull police are preparing for what could be a busy day at Nantasket Beach on Friday after social media posts began circulating online encouraging people to gather at the popular South Shore destination.

Police officials say they became aware of posts promoting a beach “takeover” and are increasing staffing levels to help manage any large crowds that may show up. Additional officers will be assigned throughout the beach area, along with increased patrols in nearby neighborhoods and parking areas.

The department said the move is precautionary and aimed at keeping visitors, residents, and businesses safe as warmer weather draws more people to the shoreline.
Officials are reminding beachgoers that local laws will be strictly enforced. Open alcohol containers, disorderly behavior, illegal parking, reckless driving, and other violations could result in fines, arrests, or removal from the area.
Hull Police Chief John Dunn said the town welcomes visitors but expects everyone to act responsibly and respect the community. He noted that officers will be visible throughout the day and will respond quickly to any issues that arise.
The increased police presence comes after concerns about large gatherings organized through social media, which can sometimes attract hundreds of people with little notice. Town officials say they are working with partner agencies and monitoring the situation closely.
As of Thursday, no specific threats had been reported, but authorities said they wanted to be prepared in case attendance exceeds normal beach crowds.
Nantasket Beach remains open to the public, and officials are encouraging anyone planning to visit to follow the rules, clean up after themselves, and help ensure a safe and enjoyable day for everyone.
