PEMBROKE MA — As spring begins to bloom across the South Shore, the call is going out for residents to help preserve the natural beauty of our local landscape. Pembroke is gearing up for a series of community cleanup efforts aimed at refreshing our public trails and conservation lands for the season ahead.
While several regional events are slated for late April and May, local organizers are encouraging residents to keep an eye on our town’s most popular routes—including the Town Forest and Tubbs Meadow—which see increased foot traffic this time of year.
Pembroke Community Cleanup Day
- Date: Saturday, April 25, 2026
- Time: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
- Check-in & Registration: Begins at 8:30 AM at the Pembroke Community Center.
- Supplies: The town provides official yellow trash bags and gloves. Note: Only debris placed in these town-provided bags will be collected by the DPW.
Bag Drop-Off & Collection Logistics
To keep the trails and roadsides clear, the town uses a specific “curbside” logic for the cleanup:
- Placement: Once bags are filled, volunteers are instructed to leave them at the edge of the road or at designated trailhead entrances where DPW trucks can easily access them.
- Pickup: DPW crews will circulate throughout the afternoon and the following Monday to collect the official yellow bags.
- Private Disposal: For residents who prefer to drop off items themselves, the Pembroke Recycling Center on Learning Lane is open, but regular household “toter” rules apply.
