BRIDGEWATER, MA — An early morning fire accompanied by explosions destroyed a home on Crescent Street in Bridgewater on Friday, April 10, 2026, forcing q to flee as flames rapidly spread through the structure.
Emergency crews responded around 1:20 a.m. to reports of a fire near the Bridgewater Police Station. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy flames coming from a detached garage and nearby vehicles, with multiple explosions reported due to gas containers stored inside.



According to officials, a passerby noticed the fire and quickly called 911. A responding police officer rushed to the home and alerted the occupants, helping ensure a safe evacuation.
Three residents and two cats were able to escape the home without serious injury. The quick response is being credited with preventing a potential tragedy.
The fire quickly escalated to a two-alarm blaze as crews worked to contain the flames. The garage collapsed during the incident, and at least two vehicles were destroyed. The home has been deemed a total loss.
Firefighters remained on scene for nearly an hour working to extinguish the fire and secure the area.
