MANOMET, Mass. — As the school year comes to a close in the coastal village of Manomet, part of Plymouth, Manomet Elementary School is marking the end of 2025–2026 with a mix of celebration, recognition, and continued outreach to local families.
School officials confirmed that the last day of classes will be June 26, and unlike many districts that opt for early dismissal, students will attend a full day of school to wrap up the academic year.
The milestone comes alongside a major achievement for the school’s staff. Linda Belocas, a health teacher at Manomet Elementary, has been named the Massachusetts Health Teacher of the Year for 2026, a statewide honor recognizing excellence in health education.
Belocas is known within the school community for her focus on student wellness, promoting healthy lifestyles and emotional well-being alongside traditional classroom instruction. The award highlights both her individual impact and the school’s broader commitment to student development.
Meanwhile, Manomet Elementary continues to expand its role beyond the classroom through a series of community-focused programs. School leaders say kindergarten preparation events remain a key priority, helping incoming students and their families transition into the school system. The programs allow children to meet teachers, explore classrooms, and build familiarity ahead of their first day.
Students are also taking part in interactive educational experiences, including planetarium-based programs that introduce space science in an immersive setting. The initiative is designed to spark curiosity and enhance learning through hands-on engagement.
With the final day approaching, school officials say the focus remains on finishing the year strong while celebrating student progress and community involvement.
As summer nears, Manomet Elementary continues to stand out as a central part of the local community—balancing academic achievement with programs that support students and families alike.
