Rain, Wind and a Blast of Cold: What Plymouth County Can Expect From New England’s Next Storm
PLYMOUTH COUNTY, Mass. — Residents across Plymouth County and the South Shore should prepare for a wet Friday followed by a sharp drop in temperatures as a storm system moves through New England later this week.
According to Boston 25 News, the storm is expected to bring periods of rain and breezy conditions Friday, October 16, before colder air moves into Massachusetts for the weekend.
Rain Expected Friday
Rain is expected to arrive Friday morning and could continue through much of the day. Current projections call for around a half-inch of rainfall in Massachusetts, although actual totals may vary by location.
The wet weather could affect the Friday commute, with periods of rain and gusty winds making travel less comfortable.
Temperatures Set to Drop
The biggest change is expected after the storm passes.
Colder air moving into the region Saturday will bring noticeably lower temperatures and stronger winds. Highs in the Boston area may struggle to reach 50 degrees, with wind chills making it feel even colder.
Sunday morning could bring some of the coldest temperatures of the season so far, with frost or freezing conditions possible in parts of the region.
Will It Snow in Plymouth County?
Despite the winterlike conditions expected across parts of New England, significant snowfall is not currently expected in southeastern Massachusetts from this system.
The snow threat is primarily focused farther north, including higher elevations of northern New England, where some snow could develop as colder air moves in.
What Happens After the Storm?
Conditions are expected to improve Sunday, with sunshine returning despite the chilly temperatures. A gradual warm-up is forecast early next week, with temperatures potentially returning to the 60s by the middle of the week.
Residents should monitor updated forecasts as the storm approaches, particularly for changes in rainfall timing, wind conditions and overnight temperatures.
