Front Street Sidewalk Reconstruction Project: Scheduled to Begin on 10/19/2026 Marion
The Marion Department of Public Works (DPW), through the Contractor Hatch Landscape and Design Inc., will begin the Front Street Sidewalk Reconstruction Improvements on Monday, October 19, 2026. The limits of the project are from 182 Front Street to the intersection of Front Street and Vine Street.
The Contractor will first complete the section from Cottage Street to 182 Front Street and will then continue from Cottage Street to Vine Street. Construction hours are 7:00AM to 3:00PM, Monday through Friday. The project is anticipated to be complete by Thanksgiving. Schedule and completion of all work is subject to change due to weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances.
Sections of sidewalk, approximately 200 feet in length, will be closed to all pedestrian traffic at a time. The vehicle traffic lane adjacent to the sidewalk section will also be closed during active construction. Alternating direction vehicle traffic will be permitted through the open traffic lane via Police Detail instruction. Please follow all traffic/construction signs and Police Details directions.
Please do not park any vehicles along the roadway during the construction period. Driveway access for abutters within the construction area will be maintained throughout the project, though there may be small delays. Parking on Front Street will be limited during construction, and motorists should seek alternate parking locations, including the Island Wharf Road parking lot.
Every effort will be made to minimize inconvenience to residents and motorists. Motorists can expect delays while traveling through the construction area and should seek alternate routes. As always, please slow down and use caution while traveling through construction areas.
Please contact the DPW should you have any questions: (508) 748-3540 Monday â Friday 7:00AM to 3:30PM. For emergencies outside of the regular DPW office hours, please contact the Police Department and they will relay any concerns to the appropriate Town Department: (508) 748-1212. Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated.
