Driver Faces Attempted Murder Charges After Intentionally Striking Two Bridgewater State Students
RIDGEWATER, Mass. — An East Weymouth man is facing multiple felony charges, including attempted murder, after allegedly driving his car directly into two Bridgewater State University students on campus Saturday morning.
According to the university’s Office of the President, the suspect has no affiliation with the school. Surveillance video reviewed by officials indicates the driver intentionally targeted the students on Burrill Avenue, near the Moakley Center. However, investigators emphasized there is no evidence the victims were specifically targeted. Police believe the suspect was fleeing from an earlier road-rage incident in East Bridgewater.

- The Suspect: A man in his early 40s from East Weymouth. He was arrested at the scene by Bridgewater State University Police and subsequently taken for a psychiatric evaluation.
- The Charges: Two counts of Attempted Murder, two counts of Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, one count of Leaving the Scene of Personal Injury, and a Marked-Lanes Violation.
The Bridgewater State University Police Department is leading the active investigation, with assistance from the Bridgewater Police Department handling crash reconstruction.
