Defense Seeks to Move Trial in Deadly Hingham Apple Store Crash Case
HINGHAM, Mass. — The defense for a man charged in connection with the deadly 2022 crash at the Hingham Apple Store is seeking to move his upcoming trial out of Plymouth County, citing extensive media coverage and concerns about selecting an impartial jury.

According to WHDH, Bradley Rein, 65, of Hingham, is accused of driving an SUV through the front of the Apple Store at Derby Street Shops on November 21, 2022. The crash killed Kevin Bradley, a 65-year-old construction worker, and injured more than 20 other people.
Rein has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
His defense team argues that widespread publicity surrounding the incident and the popularity of the shopping complex could make it difficult to find jurors who can fairly evaluate the case.
The prosecution opposes the request to change the trial location, according to WCVB.
Rein’s bail was revoked in August after prosecutors alleged he violated conditions of his release, including a failed alcohol test. Authorities had also previously raised concerns about issues involving his GPS monitoring device.
The trial is scheduled to begin in January 2027. The court must address the change-of-venue request as the case moves toward trial.
This case remains pending, and the charges are allegations. Rein is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
