Brockton Brothers Sentenced in Staged Credit Union Robbery Involving Nearly $200,000
BROCKTON, Mass. — Two brothers from Brockton faced federal sentencing on Monday, October 19, following their guilty pleas in a scheme to stage a robbery at a West Roxbury credit union and steal nearly $200,000, according to federal prosecutors.

Jenel Flounoury, 30, and Justin Flounoury, 34, pleaded guilty in July 2026 to conspiracy to commit larceny from a credit union in connection with the September 24, 2024, incident at Energy Credit Union in West Roxbury. The amount taken was $197,146, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts. “Source: U.S. Department of Justice” (https://www.justice.gov/usao-ma/pr/two-brockton-brothers-plead-guilty-staging-credit-union-heist)
How the incident unfolded
According to federal prosecutors, Jenel Flounoury was working as a teller at the credit union when his brother entered the business wearing dark clothing, sunglasses and a mask.
Justin Flounoury reportedly passed his brother a note demanding money. Instead of handing over the cash in his teller drawer, Jenel went into the vault, collected nearly $200,000 and placed the money in a bag before giving it to his brother.
Investigators later tracked Justin’s cellphone activity to the residence the brothers shared in Brockton. Authorities also reported that surveillance footage showed the brothers burning dark clothing on a backyard grill within hours of the incident.
A subsequent search of the residence recovered more than $160,000 in cash. Investigators identified 10 $100 bills whose serial numbers matched bills recorded as being in the credit union vault before the robbery.
Federal court proceedings
The brothers were indicted in January 2025 and later admitted guilt to conspiracy to commit larceny from a credit union in federal court in Boston.
Federal prosecutors said the conspiracy charge carries a maximum potential penalty of five years in prison, up to three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000. The actual sentence is determined by the court.
