Town to Celebrate Climate Week Alongside Sustainable Plymouth with Speaker Series and Energy Expo
The Department of Energy and Environment is pleased to announce that the Town of Plymouth, in conjunction with Sustainable Plymouth, will celebrate Climate Week with a speaker series and Plymouth Energy Education Expo this month.
The Town will join other municipalities across the country in celebrating Climate Week during the week of September 21, with several events to help promote practical tips for a more energy-efficient lifestyle. The week will kick off with a speaker series hosted at the Plymouth Public Library and will culminate with the Plymouth Energy Education Expo.
The week-long observation will begin with a speaker series in the Fehlow Room at the Plymouth Public Library, 132 South St. Several speakers will give free presentations throughout the week on how community members can save money with energy-efficient solutions.
Kurtis Amaral from HomeWorks Energy Inc. will lead the “Renter & Landlord Energy Savings” presentation on Tuesday, Sept. 2, from 6-7 p.m. During the presentation, Amaral will discuss practical energy savings for renters and landlords, including efficiency improvements, available programs, and ways to reduce utility costs. The series helps residents make informed energy decisions that lower costs, reduce emissions, and support a more sustainable Plymouth.
Cam Kackley, a solar financing professional, will present “Battery Backup & Residential Solar” on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 6-7 p.m. The presentation will explore residential solar, battery backup systems, and financing options. Attendees will learn how clean energy technologies can improve home resilience, reduce electric bills, and increase energy independence while supporting local climate goals.
Award-winning local architect Joe Fisher will present “Net Zero Buildings” on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 6-7 p.m. As part of his presentation, Fisher will discuss net zero building design and strategies for creating highly energy-efficient, low-carbon homes and buildings. The session highlights how better building design can reduce energy use, lower operating costs, and strengthen community sustainability.
The week-long recognition will culminate with the Plymouth Energy Education Expo 2026 and Electric Vehicle (EV) Car Show on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Plymouth Public Library front lawn and parking lot, 132 South St.
Community members are encouraged to attend the free, family-friendly event to explore clean energy technologies and learn more about rebates, energy-efficient programs and sustainable transportation. Local organizations, contractors and energy professionals will also be in attendance for community members to speak. Live music by Thirsty Boots and Kogi's food truck will also be present for attendees to enjoy.
This event will take place rain or shine.
