The Town of Plymouth would like to inform community members that the construction of the Cherry Street Water Main Replacement project will begin on Monday, Sept. 28.
Beginning Monday, Sept. 28, Burns Construction Company will install an 8-inch ductile iron water main, gate valves, fire hydrants, and water services on Cherry Street between Squanto Road and Durigan Street.
Construction is expected to occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Various equipment, machinery, and materials will be in the roadway during construction hours. Roadway trenches will be paved daily.
Roads are expected to remain open to local and emergency traffic, and driveway access will be maintained throughout construction; however, community members should anticipate traffic delays and schedule accordingly.
During the second week of October, installation of the new water main on Cherry Street from Court Street to Standish Avenue will begin and take roughly a month to complete. Construction on Court Street will include some overnight work, and a temporary traffic pattern change is anticipated; however, traffic disruptions will be minimal.
Construction is expected to shut down during the winter season and resume in the spring. Resuming in April 2027, Burns Construction will install 8″ water main on Cherry Street between Standish Avenue and Squanto Road. Water service may be interrupted throughout the day due to the ongoing construction. Residents and businesses will receive advance notice when water shutdowns are being planned.
Final paving is anticipated to be completed in the fall of 2027.
