Duxbury, Mass. — Photos Show Patrick Clancy Playground Honoring 3 Children During Lindsay Clancy Trial

Duxbury, Mass. — A quiet playground created in memory of three young children whose deaths shocked Massachusetts has taken on an especially emotional meaning as the legal case surrounding their mother, Lindsay Clancy, reaches another uncertain chapter.

The Clancy Family Playground in Duxbury was opened by Patrick Clancy in memory of his three children, Cora, Dawson and Callan. The playground was created with the help of volunteers and the HEARD Foundation as a lasting tribute to the children and as part of an effort to raise awareness about parental mental health.

Recent photographs of the playground show a peaceful recreational space that stands in stark contrast to the tragedy that brought the Clancy family into the national spotlight.

The playground was established as a place where children can play while their three young namesakes are remembered. For Patrick Clancy, however, the memorial also represents a deeply personal effort to turn an unimaginable loss into something that could benefit other families.

The deaths of Cora, Dawson and Callan occurred in January 2023 at the family’s Duxbury home. Lindsay Clancy was subsequently charged in connection with the deaths.

During her trial, prosecutors argued that Clancy was criminally responsible for the deaths. Her defense maintained that she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and other serious mental-health problems at the time.

Patrick Clancy testified during the trial, providing jurors with an emotional account of the events surrounding the deaths of his children. His testimony was among the most closely watched portions of a case that attracted national attention.

The trial ultimately ended without a verdict.

On September 4, 2026, a judge declared a mistrial after jurors were unable to reach a unanimous decision following days of deliberations. The mistrial does not determine whether Clancy is guilty or not guilty, and the criminal case remains unresolved.

The next phase of the case could include another trial. A hearing is scheduled for September 29, when the court is expected to address what happens next.

The possibility of another trial also means Patrick Clancy could once again be asked to revisit the deaths of his children in a courtroom.

The playground therefore carries an added significance as the legal proceedings continue. Rather than being only a memorial, it has become a physical reminder of three children whose lives ended far too soon.

The HEARD Foundation has emphasized the importance of supporting parents and families struggling with mental-health challenges. The memorial project seeks to keep the children’s memory alive while encouraging conversations about parental mental health.

For people in Duxbury and throughout Plymouth County, the playground represents both remembrance and hope.

While the legal questions surrounding the children’s deaths remain unresolved, their names continue to live on through the community space created in their honor.

Editor’s Note: The Lindsay Clancy criminal case remains unresolved following the September 4 mistrial. The September 29 hearing is expected to provide more information about whether prosecutors will pursue another trial.
