Woman Escapes Serious Injury After Tree Falls on Vehicle Along Route 28
WEST WAREHAM, Mass. — A woman was taken to a local hospital for evaluation after a large tree fell onto her vehicle Friday morning along Route 28 in West Wareham, according to a report from CapeCod.com.
The incident happened at approximately 10:20 a.m. on Cranberry Highway, also known as Route 28, near the intersection with County Road, or Route 58.
According to CapeCod.com, the woman was inside the vehicle when the large tree came down and struck it. Despite the size of the tree and the impact, the woman was reportedly able to escape with only minor injuries.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene following the incident. The woman was transported to Tobey Hospital for evaluation. The extent of her injuries was not immediately reported beyond the description of minor injuries.
The incident caused a significant obstruction along the roadway as crews worked to deal with the fallen tree and the damaged vehicle.
Massachusetts Department of Transportation workers responded to the scene to cut apart and remove the tree. The work was necessary to clear the roadway and allow traffic to safely resume through the area.
