Three Workers Seriously Injured After Barn Under Construction Collapses Pembroke
PEMBROKE, Mass. — Three construction workers were seriously injured Thursday afternoon after a large barn under construction collapsed at a property on Valley Street in Pembroke, sending the workers approximately 25 feet to the ground.
The Pembroke Fire Department said emergency crews were dispatched shortly after 5 p.m. to 221 Valley Street following reports that a building had collapsed and multiple people were injured.
When firefighters arrived, they found an approximately 80-foot by 100-foot barn that was still under construction had collapsed. Three workers were seriously injured in the incident.

According to officials, one of the workers became trapped underneath the collapsed structure. Firefighters worked to extricate the worker before transporting the victim to the nearby Hobomock Ice Arena, where a medical helicopter was waiting.
The worker was then flown to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston for further treatment. The other two injured workers were transported by ambulance to South Shore Hospital.
Despite the seriousness of the incident, officials said all three workers are expected to survive. The Pembroke Fire Department reported that the injuries were serious but not believed to be life-threatening at this time.
The collapse involved a substantial wooden-framed structure that was still being built. Images from the scene showed much of the barn’s frame on the ground following the collapse.
The circumstances surrounding what caused the structure to fail remain unclear.
The incident is now the subject of an investigation involving multiple agencies. OSHA, the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration, is investigating the workplace accident. Pembroke police and building officials are also involved, along with the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office, according to officials.
Investigators will likely examine the construction site, the building materials and structural supports, the work being performed at the time of the collapse, and whether required workplace and construction safety standards were being followed.
As of Thursday evening, authorities had not announced the identities of the injured workers or released additional details about their conditions.
The collapse remains an active investigation, and officials have not yet determined what caused the barn to come down.
Plimoth Today will continue to follow the investigation and provide updates as additional information becomes available.
