Man and Woman Taken Into Custody After Alleged Assault Prompts SWAT Response
PLYMOUTH, Mass. — Two people were taken into custody Saturday morning after an alleged assault inside a Plymouth apartment prompted a SWAT response, according to police and WHDH.
The incident began at approximately 4 a.m. on August 29, when Plymouth police received a report that a man had been assaulted inside Building 2B on Marc Drive.
According to officials, the victim told police he had been slashed with a knife and held at gunpoint by a male and female suspect inside an apartment. The victim escaped and ran to a nearby fire station, where he sought assistance.
Plymouth police officers responded to the apartment and attempted to contact the occupants. Police said the occupants refused to cooperate and did not respond to further attempts to communicate with them.
Given the seriousness of the allegations and the reported presence of a firearm, a Metro-LEC SWAT team was called to the scene.
As the tactical operation proceeded, the apartment building was evacuated as a precaution. Authorities worked to resolve the situation safely while keeping other residents away from the area.
After a brief period, officers took a male and female suspect into custody without further incident, according to officials.
Police have not publicly released the identities of the individuals taken into custody or announced specific criminal charges.
