MassDOT’s contractor will implement a full closure of Pickens Street, in the vicinity of Route 140, in Lakeville during daytime hours from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM on August 11. This closure is necessary for crews to set up a crane that will install new precast barriers on the bridge.

Daytime Single Lane Closures on Route 140 in Lakeville Began July 13
MassDOT’s contractor will close a single lane on Route 140 northbound or southbound, in the vicinity of Pickens Street, in Lakeville during daytime hours on Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM starting July 13. This closure will be ongoing for approximately 1 month.
The lane closures are necessary for crews to remove and replace formwork and install ducts on the bridge deck.
Long-term Single Lane Closure on Pickens Street in Lakeville Extended through November 2026
MassDOT closed a single lane on Pickens Street, in the vicinity of Route 140, in Lakeville on July 28, 2025. This closure will now be in place through November 2026. Traffic will be reduced to one lane of alternating traffic, regulated by temporary traffic signals.
The lane closures are necessary for crews to perform construction of the new deck.
MassDOT is rehabilitating eight (8) bridges, including deck replacements, at six (6) locations throughout District 5 in Bristol and Plymouth Counties to improve the safety and life span of the bridges. The bridges cross over Route 3, Route 25, Route 140, Plimoth Patuxet Highway, and Copeland Drive. Proposed work also includes preservation activities involving full cleaning and painting of structural steel, steel repairs, bearing replacements, substructure repairs, and other ancillary repairs.
