25-Year-Old Brockton Woman Identified in Fatal Lakeville Jet Ski Accident
LAKEVILLE, Mass. — Authorities have identified the woman who died following a jet ski accident on Long Pond in Lakeville as Daisha Murphy, 25, of Brockton.

According to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, the accident occurred Tuesday evening when a jet ski carrying two women overturned on the pond. A nearby boater called 911 at approximately 5:45 p.m. after seeing one of the riders fail to resurface.
A large-scale search involving the Massachusetts State Police, Massachusetts Environmental Police, Lakeville Police, Freetown Police, the State Police Air Wing, and the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (SEMLEC) Marine Unit continued through the night.
At approximately 12:40 a.m. Wednesday, search crews recovered Murphy’s body about 125 yards from shore in approximately five feet of water.
Officials said Murphy was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death.
The incident remains under investigation by the Massachusetts Environmental Police, Lakeville Police, and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
Anyone spending time on the water is reminded to wear a properly fitted life jacket and follow all boating safety guidelines.
