Wareham MA A mid-day outdoor fire damaged a local residence and its surrounding fencing on Tuesday, May 12. Emergency crews were dispatched to 13 Oakdale Heights Lane around noon after neighbors spotted smoke rising from the property.

Rapid Response

The blaze was visible from across the Wareham River, prompting several calls to emergency services. According to Acting Fire Chief Mark Rogers, Wareham Police and EMS arrived on the scene first and took immediate action.

  • Early Intervention: Police officers utilized a hoseline to “tamper down” the flames before fire crews even arrived.
  • Containment: Thanks to the quick response from initial responders and arriving fire units, the fire was fully contained by 12:25 p.m.

Damage Assessment

While the fire was intense enough to be seen from a distance, the damage was localized:

  • Property Impact: The blaze destroyed a section of fencing and charred the side of the home.
  • Status: No injuries were reported.

Acting Chief Rogers noted that the full extent of the structural damage and the specific cause of the fire are currently under investigation.
