Domestic Violence Suspect Fatally Injured in Head-On Collision Following Brief Police Pursuit

PLYMOUTH MA — A Friday morning that began with a domestic violence call ended in a fatal head-on collision on Warren Avenue, claiming the life of a suspect and leaving a woman seriously injured.

Timeline of Events

The incident began at approximately 9:30 a.m. on April 24 when Plymouth Police responded to a report of domestic violence. Before officers arrived, the male suspect fled the scene in a blue Volvo.

Minutes later, officers spotted the vehicle and initiated a pursuit on Route 3 North. However, the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office confirmed that the pursuit was “brief” and quickly terminated by supervisors due to the suspect’s increasingly erratic driving, which posed an immediate risk to public safety.

The Collision on Route 3A

At approximately 9:45 a.m., authorities received 911 calls reporting a violent two-car crash on Warren Avenue (Route 3A).

Investigators determined that the Volvo had crossed the double yellow line, slamming head-on into a silver Porsche Macan. The impact was so severe that both vehicles’ airbags deployed, and the roadway was covered in oil and gasoline, requiring an extensive cleanup by emergency crews.

Casualties and Injuries

  • The Suspect: The driver of the Volvo was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth, where he was later pronounced deceased. His identity has not yet been released pending formal notification of kin.
  • The Victim: The driver of the Porsche remains hospitalized. While authorities have not released her name, family members informed local media that she suffered four broken ribs, a punctured lung, a fractured vertebrae, and a concussion. She is expected to survive but will require several days of intensive care.

Ongoing Investigation

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section are currently leading the investigation.

Major traffic disruptions occurred throughout Friday morning as State Road at Beaver Dam Road was closed to northbound traffic, and Plimoth Patuxet Highway remained closed southbound for several hours during the scene processing.

Editor’s Note: This is a developing story. Plimoth Today will provide updates as more information regarding the identities of those involved or the underlying domestic incident becomes available.

RESOURCES: If you or someone you know is affected by domestic violence, help is available. You can call the SafeLink 24/7 toll-free hotline at (877) 785-2020.
