Hull, MA-The Hull Select Board has approved a $50,000 grant from the town’s opioid settlement funds to support The Anchor of Hull, a community wellness and recovery center.
The decision was unanimous and aims to expand access to addiction recovery services for residents affected by substance use disorder.
How the Funds Will Be Used
- $25,000: Recovery liaison/community manager to guide individuals through recovery services.
- $20,000: Wellness programs including mental, physical, and emotional health classes.
- $5,000: Emergency assistance fund for urgent needs such as transportation, medication, or temporary housing.

The funding comes from national opioid settlements with pharmaceutical companies and distributors, which Hull has allocated to a dedicated opioid fund totaling approximately $273,000. The town ensures these funds support prevention, treatment, harm reduction, and recovery programs.
Community Impact
The Anchor’s programs aim to fill gaps in recovery services, helping residents transition from detox to long-term support. Officials are also considering additional initiatives like Narcan “recovery bags” and a licensed social worker to provide ongoing addiction support. Local leaders say these programs are vital to reducing overdose rates and supporting community wellness.
