Officials are seeking charges after a head-on crash that occurred Sunday night (January 11/12, 2026) on Plain Street in Marshfield, Massachusetts (Route 139). The collision happened around 9:09 p.m. when a vehicle crossed the center line and struck another car head-on.

? Involvement of an off-duty officer

• Police say the crash involved an off-duty Marshfield police officer, who was driving a Jeep that crossed the double-solid yellow lines and attempted to pass other vehicles before hitting a Honda Civic head-on.
• The Jeep driver (the off-duty officer) was able to get out of his vehicle on his own; the other driver was trapped and had to be extricated by emergency crews.
• Both drivers were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, and the officer has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues.
