Plymouth Massachusetts,Boys and Girls Club worker took inappropriate photos of boy, 7, DA says

PLYMOUTH, Mass. —A man who works for the Boys and Girls Club in Plymouth is accused of taking inappropriate pictures of a boy, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz said.

Bradley Collins, 20, was arraigned in Plymouth District Court Tuesday on charges of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, photographing sexual or intimate parts of a child, and child in nude, lascivious pose/exhibit.

Prosecutors said a boy participating in the camp reported that Collins took pictures of him with his shorts down. Collins told investigators the boy approached him with a rash and pulled his own shorts down to show his backside.

Collins changed his version of events numerous times during an interview with investigators at the Plymouth Police Department and initially denied having taken photos during the incident, Cruz’s office said. He later stated he had in fact taken photos during the incident.

“He later stated that the photo was taken by accident,” said John Brainard, assistant district attorney. “After he was contacted by members of the Boys and Girls Club, he found the pictures on his phone and later decided to delete them because he knew they were wrong.”

Prosecutors also said Collins instructed the boy not to tell anyone about the incident, including his parents.

The club says Collins was initially a volunteer from Oct. 2023 to Aug. 2024, before becoming a staff member from Sept. 2024 to Aug. 2025, when he was then terminated.

Collins pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was released on $15,000 bail and ordered to stay away from children and wear a GPS monitor. He will return to court on Oct. 2.

The executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of Plymouth, Garreth Lynch, released a statement saying that the club does conduct a series of background checks, including a fingerprint check and a national check, before hiring any candidates.

Lynch told WCVB that in the wake of the incident, the club plans to install a hall monitor who will be “present at all times.”

“There will be more cameras in program rooms. Basic Child Safety policies will be reviewed with staff more frequently,” Lynch said. “The Rule of Three will be strictly enforced every day.”

Lynch said the incident was a violation of the “Rule of Three,” which states that “there must be two counselors accompanying every child anywhere in the building, or two children with a counselor.” Lynch said that any one-on-one behavior is not tolerated and is grounds for immediate dismissal from employment at the club.

There are no reports of similar incidents involving other children at the Boys and Girls Club.
