Strange Sighting Reported on Miles Standish Trails
By The Plimoth News Desk
Miles Standish State Forest is a favorite spot for many of us, but a recent account from a local hiker is drawing attention to the unexpected things one can encounter while traversing the more remote sections of the park.
A hiker, who was out for an April morning walk near the 3 Cornered Pond Road area, shared a report of an unusual encounter during their time in the woods. The hiker noted that, about an hour into their trek, they experienced a strong, sudden feeling of being observed.
As they moved through the trails, they spotted a dark figure in the distance moving along the path. Concerned about the person’s quick pace in such a remote area, the hiker decided to turn back toward the main road to rejoin more populated trails. The hiker noted that they maintained their pace until they reached their vehicle and departed the forest.
While the woods at Miles Standish are vast and generally peaceful, this account serves as a reminder to always be aware of your surroundings, stay on marked trails, and keep your phone charged whenever you head out for a day in nature.
Have you ever had an unusual sighting or interesting experience while hiking in our local state forest? We would love to hear about your time in the great outdoors.
